The University of Kansas's men's basketball team is one of the oldest and most successful in the history of college basketball; the very inventor of the sport, Dr. James Naismith, was KU's first coach. Its long and illustrious history began in 1898 and includes some of the biggest names in the game, from legends like Wilt Chamberlain to "secret weapons" like Andrea Hudy, the only female strength and conditioning coach in the division. Longtime Jayhawk enthusiast Kenn Johnson offers up a unique and in-depth look at the players, coaches and other personalities who helped make the University of Kansas basketball program the unparalleled tradition it is today.

About The Author: Kenn Johnson is a Kansas native with a lifelong love of Jayhawk basketball. He created and maintains HoopsZone.net, which contains information on every KU player, team and coach since the inception of basketball by Dr. James Naismith in 1898. He holds a doctorate in business and has taught for several years at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Bill Mayer was born in Kansas City, KS. After serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII, he returned to Kansas and earned a BS in journalism. He began with the Lawrence Journal-World in 1950, writing a regular sports column and serving throughout the years as reporter, sports editor, news editor, managing editor, executive editor and now contributing editor.
